2016 - How You Doin'?

Hello! As we are over a month into 2016 I thought it was time to fill you in on what I will be working on this year and a little recap of major events that happened at the tail end of 2015.

I've already been blessed with a ton of opportunities and can't wait to see what else is in store for me this year.

Some of you might know this already, but back in September I broke 3 of my fingers on my left hand.

This happened right in the middle of the run for Catch Me If You Can at Circle Theatre. So, I performed the second week of performances with a compression glove to keep my fingers straight. During the few days off between the second and third week of performances I had to have surgery on my fingers. I spent two days healing up as quickly as I could and then went right into the third week of performances. It was a painful experience that I hope to never repeat. I could not have gotten through the show without the support of the shows cast, crew, and production team. They helped me navigate my quick changes and even updated some of the choreography so I didn't damange my hand any further. THANKS EVERYONE!!!

October brought the Grand Awards - our local Tony Awards® - and I had the amazing opporutnity to not only perform at it but actually close the show! I sang through one of the songs from Catch Me If You Can, but added a few inside jokes.

I was also lucky enough to walk away from the 2015 Grand Awards with an award for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical for Civic Theatre's production of Avenue Q!

In December I performed for the first time at Farmers Alley Theatre as Smudge in their Holiday Musical Forever Plaid. I had an AMAZING time with these guys and it was another show to cross off my bucket list. Although I loved it so much that it's back on bucket list. I'd love to do this show again and again.

The final performance of Forever Plaid brought me in to 2016. I've got a few things lined up for the spring and a couple of I HOPE I GET ITs. Here is whats going on!

This one night only performance features local Grand Rapids talent singing songs they've always wanted to perform - with a twist! I'll be singing 'Raise The Roof' from The Wild Party and 'Cell Block Tango' from Chicago. Do you see the twist? "If They'd Only Let Me" is a hilarious and fun cabaret performance opportunity for vocalists to perform numbers from shows that they are perfectly WRONG for because of age or gender! Bring it on ladies and gents - I'll be signing by heart out. Tickets: $30

This one night only performance is no April Fools joke. With Circle's season kickoff concert, they are taking things back to the 1950s, when diners, drive-in movies, and rock 'n' roll were all the rage. Danny Zuko, a hunky "greaser," and Sandy Dumbrowski, new student and ultimate "good girl," are the leading pair, as they figure out how to come back from their summer fling. The show features familiar tunes, such as "Greased Lightnin'," "We Go Together," and "You're the One that I Want." Grease is one of the most popular musicals, with an eight-year run on Broadway, plus two revivals, along with three Tony Award® nominations. Sit back and relive those "Summer Nights" while Rydell High's senior class of 1959 sings about hot cars and oh so much teenage angst. Tickets: $20

Saturday April 23 / Captiva Florida: Ronee & Adams Wedding!

I am thrilled and honored to be invited to play for Ronee and Adams wedding. Not only are they goals, they are also family. This will be my 4th wedding as a guitarist and I couldn't be more excited!

I HOPE I GET IT's

I'll be auditioning for the Farmers Alley production of Monty Pythons Spamalot and Circle Theatre's production of Rock Of Ages. Fingers crossed!!

Thank you for catching up with me!

-Kyle
